BRUTALLY: A young boy injured and hospitalised during attack to their home by Fulani Herdsmen in Ikorodu Lagos

A young boy name withheld reportedly injured with mother and family members during an attack incident that befell their home by Fulani herdsmen. TRIBUNEPOINT WEEKLY NEWS gathered, on this said day, both the young boy and his mother with other relatives were in their home at about 10:35pm when the Fulani herdsmen invaded their home and causing chaos and destruction in their home. According to source gathered, at a time about some years back – this incident relating to that of a pastor who was attacked and brutally faced with beating and injuries with his family by this same Fulani herdsmen that led to serious damage for him and family. The pastor by name OluKayode at that time was said to have fled for his dear life with family to another town entirely for safety of his life and that of family members. Threats of all kinds had befell the pastor and family that year until the pastor was reportedly granted a travelling visa leaving his family behind in the country with the intention to bring them over later on, the family also relocated down to Lagos for their safety.

Further investigations revealed that the source whom is one of the Pastor’s extended family and who knew the story incident in details since when it began told TRIBUNEPOINTS WEEKLY NEWS of all that transpired and made a recap of the incident which was also captured in the news media at that time. The recent occurrence relating to this however reflected how the Fulani herdsmen came in search for Pastor Olukayode and family where they are seeking refuge for their lives. The Fulani herdsmen whom were all of Nigeria with strong connections and backings of the government to do whatsoever they choose, they were strongly particular about capturing Pastor Olukayode but it was so unfortunate they couldn’t meet him but his son and wife.

Fulani Herdsmen: A Nomadic Ethnic Militia?

The Fulani herdsmen invaded the house and demanded for the where about of “Yaro, Kayode Barawo” as they called him. Speaking to the mother at the hospital after the incident told TRIBUNEPOINT WEEKLY that; “when the Fulani people came demanding for my husband, I was afraid because they were all with dangerous weapons and were ready to harm anybody. They yelled at me and my son for not giving them response of his where about. They took my son and beat him up not minding his young age until he was unconscious covered with blooded injuries all over him. I was almost ganged rape when the neighbors alerted the vigilantes in the community to come to our rescue”. She added that, her husband who was a pastor was attacked with church members some years back which led to several attacks to them in Oyo state and due to the attacks, they had to get refuge anywhere possible they came to Lagos. Pastor Olukayode had to find ways to leave the country because he was their prime target, she on the other hand had to come down to Lagos to her family members.

The situation grew worse when the vigilantes were alerted and they came to the scene of the attack, the Fulani herdsmen came out to face the vigilantes but they were overpowered by the guns the vigilantes were holding and shooting. The police were also alerted, coming to the scene but could not make any arrest as some of the wounded invaders escaped into the nearby bush. The boy was immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatments due to the amount of injury sustained during the attack.
