EPL: We might have been champions – Arteta distinguishes two crucial points in time in Arsenal’s title race

Date:

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has featured two crucial points in time that wrecked Arsenal’s bid for the 2023-24 Premier League title, which they barely lost to Manchester City.

The Gunners wanted to win the league for the first time in two decades, and the race continued into Sunday’s final round of games.

However, Arsenal’s hopes were dashed once more as City clinched the title with a victory over West Ham United.

Arsenal forward, Kai Havertz voiced his frustration, calling City’s win “not fair,” while Arteta reflected on where things went wrong for his team.

In his post-match public interview, Arteta pinpointed the 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa in April as a key defining moment and furthermore Man City’s success over Tottenham.

Arteta stated, “For sure, the 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa in April.”

The score should have been 4-0 in the first half. The narrative might have been different.

“What happened last Tuesday [Man City’s 2-0 win over Tottenham, perhaps we might have been champions,” Arteta added.

“These are the extremely minute margins.”
