Gov Ododo utilizing insusceptibility to safeguard Yahaya Bello – Northern gathering charges

Date:

The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA) has urged President Bola Tinubu to address Governor Usman Ododo’s actions, claiming that he is protecting Yahaya Bello and undermining the campaign against corruption.

In an explanation endorsed by representative, Ibrahim Dan-Musa, NEYGA blamed Governor Ododo of using his immunity to shield Bello, who has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The organization asserted that Ododo has been transporting Bello, including trips to Abuja, where they are pleading with influential individuals to intervene on Bello’s behalf.

NEYGA added that the former governor was brought home by Governor Ododo’s convoy during the Sallah celebrations in Okene. The group claims that Bello stayed inside the entire time he was there and that they returned together to his hiding place in the Government House after he left.

NEYGA said that Ododo’s actions were a direct hit to President Tinubu’s anti-corruption efforts and could set a bad precedent if he didn’t stop them.

Given Bello’s alleged massive looting of state resources, the group urged the EFCC to remain steadfast despite Bello’s attempts to influence public opinion in his favor.

The group emphasized that Bello must be held accountable for his crimes, which included kidnapping people while he was governor.

NEYGA approached the country to stand firm against debasement and oppose any type of shakedown.

The statement went on to say that “we must not allow corruption to fight back and undermine our collective efforts to build a just and equitable society.”

“We urge President Tinubu to act decisively and curtail Ododo’s sabotage of the EFCC’s efforts to bring Yahaya Bello to justice,” the statement reads.

Additionally, NEYGA urged Kogi State residents to reject politicians who place their own interests ahead of the well-being of their constituents. The gathering encouraged inhabitants to request responsibility and straightforwardness from their chiefs and not to be influenced by void commitments and political control.

NEYGA emphasized its help for the EFCC and its obligation to battling defilement at all levels. The gathering promised to keep checking what is going on in Kogi State and considering those answerable for defilement responsible.

The statement came to a close with a plea for unity and solidarity in the fight against corruption, stressing that the nation can only defeat this scourge and create a better future for all by working together.
