A 27-year-elderly person, distinguished as Tolu Falansa, was found dead in his condo following a 12 PM discharge episode in the Owode-Yewa people group, situated in the Yewa South Nearby Government Area of Ogun State.
Tribunepoint weekly Metro learned on Saturday from a police source who was familiar with the incident but wanted to remain anonymous due to a lack of authority to speak on behalf of the command that the incident occurred on July 28, 2024, around 5:00 a.m.
Falansa was found dead next to his motorcycle in a room filled with smoke. He reportedly kept it inside the room where he slept.
Kafaya, a resident, told the police that they only learned about the incident when people came looking for the dead.
“We didn’t consider something that nature had occurred until two young men came to search for Falansa. I guided his loft toward them when they asked where he was,” Kafaya said.
When the individuals returned to inform her that Falansa had passed away from smoke inhalation in his apartment, Tribunepoint weekly Metro discovered that Kafaya was in a state of shock.
The representative for the Ogun State Police Order, Odutola Omolola, affirmed the episode to Tribunepoint weekly Metro on Sunday and noticed that the body had been taken to the Ilaro funeral home.
According to Odutola, “The incident was reported to the Owode-Yewa Police Division by one of the neighbors at approximately 7 a.m. on July 28, 2024.” The motorcycle he kept in his room had burned when our men arrived, and his dead body was still inside.
Tribunepoint weekly Metro reported that a similar incident occurred in the Tudun Wada area of Nassarawa Local Government Area, Kano State, in January 2024, when a midnight fire killed seven members of a family, including the father, mother, and five children.
When power was restored in the area, it was believed that a spark from an electrical plug had killed seven family members while they were asleep.
